25 Seconds of Summer

I made a rather short video of some of the fun stuff we do here at the library in the summer. It was a lot of fun to use the flip camera and the software. It was pretty easy to use, however I'm probably going to use a slightly more intense video editor in the future. Oh and I just want to add, our volunTEENS are awesome!

Evolving Comic of a Sunfish

A friend I made at the Spectrum Institute recently emailed me an evolving comic that appeared upon our note taking papers while we were listening (honestly!) to a session about job interviewing skills.
That morning, we were trying to figure out the name of a certain kind of fish. It turns out the kind of fish we were thinking of with its ever elusive name was in fact a sunfish.
I thought I'd share our little sunfish and its friends with everyone here...

Happy Fourth of July!

To anyone reading this, hope your 4th of July is fabulous. We had a pretty mellow 4th. Fireworks aren't allowed in our town so we ended up buying those popper things and letting our little one enjoy those. No sparklers this year. :(

Also, I've been contemplating the RDA (Resource Description and Access) class I'll be taking soon. I'm looking forward to it because I know really nothing about this aspect of information organization. It seems like it may be a difficult subject, but I'm excited to learn something new. I definitely will share what I'm learning when I'm actually in the class.

Library Staff and Indulging in Silliness

Right now at my library, we celebrate Fridays by dressing up in the spirit of a pre-determined theme.

Unfortunately, I missed out on Hawaiian Day last Friday (which is totally OK because I was in D.C. at the Spectrum Institute. However, I did get to participate in Superhero Day and Hat Day.

I think allowing staff to be silly one day a week helps take the edge off the summer reading craziness that comes round every year. Also, I was so excited that our volunTEENS also participated in Hat Day. They made me so excited about the group of great young teens we have at our library!

Be sure to at least check out Hat Day for lots of pictures of the VolunTEENS and my little daughter who is also sporting my husband's fedora...
